Search Engine Marketing
SEM is the second oldest and can be called PPC or Pay Per Click. Â PPC is actually a form of SEM you could pay per impression or pay per conversion. Â The key commonality of SEM methods that seperates it from SEO is that it is paid.
Social Media Marketing or SMM
SMM is the SEM counterpart with Social Media. Â Its paid, unlike SEO and SMO.
Paying Facebook to boast your post is an example of SMM
Why does SEO, SMM, SEM or SMO matter to you? Â Because each is similar but only as similar as a Cardiologist is similar to an Oncologist or a Dermatologist. Â All are doctors but each should have specified training and experience in their field. Â An SEO is not necessarily the best SMO nor SEM. Â
They all work together on the patient but you should worry when your Dermatologist tells you he moon lights on Oncology and feels he can handle your cancer.
